IBC 2006, Special Inspection
IBC 2006’s Chapter 17 (Special Inspections) is a hot topic among owners, developers, architects, structural engineers, and testing agencies. Compliance is mandatory in Georgia, but often the building official does not enforce it, nobody wants to pay for it, and many people are uncertain what is really required. We will give you a good handle on the issues facing the design team and provide a roadmap for guiding your projects through the steps necessary to comply with Chapter 17.
Here are some of the key points from the presentation:
1. The definition of “Special Inspection”.
2. Why do inspections?
3. Why Chapter 17 is often ignored?
4. A simple cookbook approach to compliance.
5. A detailed look at the Schedule of Special Inspections.
6. How to select qualified testing agencies.
7. What to look for in inspector qualifications.
